Weekly Photo Challenge: Textures

While watering my gardens, I noticed a tiny feather lying on a leaf and thought it might make a nice composition for this week’s Daily Post photo challenge theme “Texture“.  In order to really reveal the textures of the feather and leaf, I went inside to get my son’s Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens.  I love how macro photography displays that God is into details.

I also took a photo of an old book cover for its texture. The original color of the cover is red, but I changed the hue to more of a brownish to use as an overlay on photos.  Please feel free to use it to add texture to your photos as well.

Here is an example of how using it might look on an image.  In Photoshop I used the overlay blending mode and lowered the opacity a bit.
