Morning Turtledove

I was so blessed yesterday morning to see a lone dove, sitting on a bare branch between two trees, as I sat down to have breakfast with my daughter.  Although I did not hear it coo, I love the soft sounds doves make.

When Jesus sent His disciples out to tell the people of Israel that the kingdom was at hand, He prepared them for what they might face.  One of the things He said was, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves.  Be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”

  1. Very beautiful! You’ve captured my very favorite bird so nicely. I don’t know why, but the mourning dove holds a special place in my heart. I’ve written about them, tried to photograph and draw them (unsuccessfully), and have been captivated by their call. Love, love, LOVE!
