Weekly Photo Challenge: Letters of Love
This week’s photo challenge theme is “Letters”… any kind of letters, no matter the alphabet. Since I used to do calligraphy with pen and ink and really appreciate Japanese calligraphy, I thought I would practice with my Japanese brush. It has been a while, so the outcome is very rough and rudimentary, but it was fun. I used my Canon ES 50mm f/1.8 II lens and added one of my own textures.
If you would like to join the challenge or see how others interpreted the theme, go to The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Letters.

Thank you! 🙂
Sore wa utsukushīdesu, watashi wa sore o aisuru (It’s beautiful I love it) – Where did you get the little red stamp beneath the E and what does it say?
Domo arigato gozaimasu, Randell-san! I created the little red stamp. It is made up using existing Kanji characters and says “Rennei”. It can be translated as “courteous traveler”. 🙂
Ooh that’s nice!
Aww, thank you, Mr. O’Donovan! 🙂
Lovely!

Thank you, janet! 🙂
Great photo, and calligraphy – I would love to learn to do it.
Thank you, Mr. Sparling! 🙂

You have set up this image perfectly.
It creates a simple but beautiful harmony.
Love the Japanese calligraphy brush!
Thank you so much, KK! 🙂
I love this… How much did you pay for the classes?
Thank you! I did not take classes. Decades ago when my sister went off to a special high school, almost like college, she brought home a book on calligraphy and a pen and ink set. That’s where it started. About 10 years ago, I bought a sumi-e book and ink kit for my daughter, and we both learned to do it together. 🙂
Omg that is awesome… My bf adores caligraphy and maybe I will buy him that. Is it expensive?
No, you can find small kits and books online or in art supply stores. That would be a great gift if he likes calligraphy. What a sweet thought. 🙂
Definitely! Thank you so much… I think of presents for my loved ones when the opportunity like this occurs, even though his birthday is in December 😀 Thank you, that is an awesome idea, you think they sell it on E-bay? What should I wrote? Caligraphy kit?
Hmm… I don’t know much about eBay, but you could try. I did a quick search on Amazon.com, and the beginner kits seem to average around $20. 🙂
Thank you so much! I will search for it, but more important, I now have an idea 🙂 Awesome 🙂
😀
I clicked follow because I like your photography, not just for the kit 😀
Thank you! I appreciate it! 🙂
